Connected Families: Building Community Amidst the Chaos
Is it possible to build connection and have meaningful conversation when you have young kids? We would like to think so!
This group is an intentional, wholehearted experiment designed specifically for families with young children. We wanted to create a rhythm of gathering that keeps childcare simple, requires minimal prep for our time-constrained lives, and allows us to grow together.
We gather once a month, rotating through three distinct modes of connection:
-
Dinners: Sharing a meal whole-family style. We join in the chaos of our kids playing while feeding them dinner, letting parents partake in as much joyful, disjointed conversation as our hearts desire!
-
Coffee & Play: A low-stress, whole-family hangout. We’ve booked the basement at Commons and plan to hire a couple of trusted church teens to watch the kids in one room while the parents enjoy coffee and unhindered conversation in the adjoining room.
-
Fly Solo: Taking turns stepping away from the family unit for the evening to build deeper individual relationships. Moms will meet at a local quiet restaurant or pub. Dads will head out for a walk at one of Matt’s (Jenna's husband) favorite city spots, with an optional coffee or drink afterward.
It feels like an exciting rhythm of gathering—and we would love for your family to join us!
